Ancient Wooden Structure Linked to Stonehenge Found in Denmark

Construction workers in the Danish town of Aars have uncovered 45 ancient pieces of wood underground. The timber pieces form a circle measuring roughly 30 meters in diameter. Researchers believe that these underground wooden artifacts date back thousands of years. The unexpected discovery occurred during routine building work in northwestern Denmark.

Museum expert Sidsel Wahlin called the discovery a once-in-a-lifetime find for archaeologists. She explained that the circle suggests a strong connection to ancient builders in Britain. In England, the famous stone structure called Stonehenge began taking shape around 3000 BC. Researchers think the group in Denmark was linked to the culture that built Stonehenge.

Along with the timber circle, scientists found an old settlement, a leader's grave, and a bronze sword. The team is checking if another smaller wooden circle exists inside the main site. They are also searching for religious ritual items, such as flint arrowheads and small daggers. These ongoing investigations will help determine the precise age and purpose of the site.

Why do you think ancient cultures created similar structures in different parts of the world?
