About ReadLevels
ReadLevels is a graded reading site. The same piece of material exists at more than one difficulty. You can read and listen at your level. After you create an account, this article’s vocabulary and quiz are free. You see your score when you finish, and — when we can tell — the name of this piece’s weakest skill layer.
The full learning report belongs to that Learner. The first Learner created on a Manager account has a fourteen-day free trial with every member feature except MP3 download, and its first seven full reports are free whenever they happen. After that, new full reports need that Learner’s prepaid access.
What you can read
Articles are available now. Classics are not on the site yet.
Articles
Science and Economics sit as two tabs in the same list; they are never mixed into one feed. Each article has Easy / Medium / Hard. The full text and listen-along audio are free without an account. Vocabulary and the quiz need a Manager account first; after that they stay free.
The Economics column covers observable public-economy topics. It does not recommend stocks or sell personal-finance products.
Classics
Not available yet. The plan is graded retellings of public-domain books, levels A–E.
How reading works
- Tap a sentence to start listening from there.
- Vocabulary and quiz items are grounded in the graded text you are reading, not in an outside worksheet.
- After the quiz you see this piece’s score and, when we can tell, the name of its weakest skill layer. The full report is separate: overall, layers on this article, how this reading went, the main issue, and what to do next.
- You can read and listen without an account. Vocabulary and quiz require sign-up, then stay free. Without signing in, progress is not kept long-term and the full report stays closed.
Who it is for
Read by yourself, or share one Manager account across a few learners.
- Manager: signs in with email. Pays for access by redeeming a code for each Learner it created. Also creates and manages Learners and changes the email and password. The Manager has no learning features and keeps no learning record.
- Learner: a profile the Manager creates. Reading, answers, reports, and membership all belong to this profile. A PIN unlocks the profile. It can be signed in in one place at a time.
- Guest: not signed in. Can read and listen. Vocabulary and quiz need an account first. Records are not kept long-term.
One Manager can create up to four learners. Progress and membership are not shared across those profiles. This version has no class or school licensing.
Free and membership
Guest (free): every published article’s text and audio.
After sign-up (free): this article’s vocabulary, quiz, score, and — when we can tell — the weakest skill-layer name. The first Learner created on the Manager account also gets a fourteen-day free trial with every member feature except MP3 download, and its first seven full reports are free whenever they happen. The Manager can print trial reports.
Membership applies only to the Learner the code was redeemed onto. It unlocks further full reports, and lets the Manager download the article’s MP3 from that Learner’s report page (per file, up to 10 successful downloads per Learner per UTC day; not a bundle). The Manager can print any unlocked report; this version has no PDF download. Classics are not included while that column is offline.
Tap-to-define and the word list are not in this version.
How you open membership, how long it lasts, and the price are shown on the account page at the time. Sign-in limits, redemption, and refunds are in the FAQ.

Where the texts come from
Articles are adapted from public educational material issued by named institutions. The credit line names the institution and section. The original URL is not printed in the article.
When Classics ship, they will be graded retellings of public-domain works, not a line-by-line original-text reader.
